BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On the game...
"The second group came in and doubled the lead for us. The first group didn't press, but I had the second group press, and those things were good for us. We got back in basketball mode, but there were things like fouling too much and giving up too many points. You can't give up that many points against good teams. We put them at the foul line 25 times. On the other end of it, 70 rebounds is the 2nd most ever. That's a lot of missed shots, but we are going to get back in the gym at 9:00 tomorrow morning and work on defense."
On overall play...
"They were playing a zone and mixed in a man defense. I thought we were aggressive in spurts, but fatigue was definitely a factor. When you shoot 1-10 from the 3-point line, that's fatigue. We have to shoot better than that. Overall, it was the first game back, and we won. Everyone I played got to play and all scored. Now we have to flush it because non-conference is over and the most important part of our season is about to begin."
On how team looks at this point...
"I think I know a little more about situations in games now. I know what players need to be in situations in games depending on if they're in man or zone defense or if they're pressing. I know who needs to be in for offense or defense. It's not a team that I know who my top players are and the others are role players. It honestly depends on situations and what we're looking for because no one has separated themselves. Obviously Nina and Niya are going to play a lot, but then with everyone else you just have to figure it out during the course of the game."
Baylor Post Sune Agbuke:
On defense...
"We need to talk more on defense. I would say more than 50% of our issues on defense come from not communicating with each other. We're going to get better as people start to play together more. We need to do fundamental things like moving more and keeping our hands up, but mainly it comes down to communicating more on the floor."
