Julian Lenz advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles main draw at the Napa Valley 50k Challenger with a 7-6(4), 6-2 win over No. 382 Daniel Nguyen (United States) on Wednesday.
Lenz has now won five matches in five days at the Napa Country Club to advance out of the qualifying draw and through the round of 16 of the main draw.
The BU standout, who is currently ranked No. 1 in singles in the ITA, got out to an early lead in the first set only to have Nguyen battle back to send the set in to a tiebreaker. However, Lenz quickly responded to capture the tiebreaker and took the second set in dominant fashion.

• Lenz has beaten Noah Rubin (No. 587), Daniel Garza (No. 518), Mico Santiago (No. 867), JP Smith (No. 229) and Nguyen (No. 382) over the past five days.
• The win was the second of Lenz's career in a Challenger main draw.
TOP QUOTE #1
"Julian is working hard. Today was a test of will, in that he had played four matches already. I think physically he is holding up well, but today it was a little harder for him to concentrate. His intensity level wasn't as constant as we would have liked, but he just did a super job of winning some close games." - head coach Matt Knoll on Julian Lenz's victory
WHAT'S NEXT
Lenz will have a day off at the USTA Men's Professional Pro Circuit Challenger Series Event on Thursday, before he faces No. 342 Jared Donaldson in the quarterfinals on Friday.
