THE RUNDOWN
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Both teams threw heavy punches, but Baylor's 9-0 run late in set three despite a loss shifted the momentum to the Bears' side in a five-set win over Kansas State at Ahearn Field House Saturday night.

Baylor (10-5, 1-0) defeated the Wildcats (13-2, 0-1) 13-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 15-12 in the Big 12 opener for both team and snapped Kansas State's 11-match home win streak. Baylor hadn't won in Manhattan, Kan. Since Nov. 13, 2010.

After Kansas State limited BU to just four kills in the first set with an overwhelming 12-point win in set one, the Bears rebounded in set two for an eight-point win holding the Wildcats to just nine kills.

Then, facing set point Baylor rattled off nine-straight points with Hope Ogden at the service line after the Bears trailed 24-14. Though Sam Hill's attacking error for Baylor was the winning point for KSU in set three, the run gave momentum to the Bears for the rest of the match.

After the run, Baylor out-hit KSU .170-.108 in set four and .350-.200 in the fifth set for the win. Katie Staiger's 20 kills matched a career-and-season high for Baylor, and she did so on a .364 hitting percentage.
