WACO, Texas -- The Baylor women's cross country team will be competing at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational for the first time Friday in Madison, Wis.

The women's 6,000-meter race starts at 11 a.m. CT. on the Zimmer Championship Course.

The Baylor women, who are listed as the fourth-best team in the USTFCCCA's South Central Regional rankings, will take seven athletes, Alex Davis, Ann-Marie Dunlap, Aubree Miller, Maggie Montoya, Leila Rohde, Chelsea Orr and Peyton Thomas, to compete at the seventh-annual running of the Wisconsin adidas Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin.

"This week is a big opportunity to see where we are at," head coach Todd Harbour said. "This is a point in the season where we hope we have made some progress. We are close to being a really, really good team. We just have to put the race together. Chelsea (Orr) really looks fast and Maggie (Montoya) and Peyton (Thomas) are in great shape. We just have to keep getting better. It is four weeks until the regional, so this is a big step."

BU won the Bear Twilight Invitational and then sat its top runners at the Ken Garland and Gerald Richey Invitational, before running them at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26. In that race, only four runners finished for Baylor led by Montoya's ninth-place showing. Thomas was the next Bear to finish, taking 25th.

Friday's race will feature 35 other schools, including Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Boston College, BYU, Columbia, Dartmouth, Florida State, Harvard, Indiana, Iona, Iowa State, Lamar, Michigan State, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Princeton, Providence, SMU, Syracuse, Toledo, Tulsa, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, William & Mary.

Included in that group are five top-10 teams, No. 1 New Mexico, No. 3 Providence, No. 6 Boise State, No. 8 Iowa State and No. 10 Washington.

Live results for the meet are available on BaylorBears.com, while FloTrack will stream the meet live, but a subscription is required.

Next weekend, the men and women will both be off from action in preparation of the Big 12 Championship on Oct. 31 in Stillwater, Okla.
