Nov. 4, 2015 WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor men's tennis will have two players in action at the 2015 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational, starting Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
The collegiate event will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Hyatt Regency Grant Cypress and will be hosted by Florida State University. The tournament will run through Sunday with the conclusion of the singles and doubles finals.
Redshirt freshman Will Little will face Florida Gulf Coast's Andres Alfonso in the opening round of 32 Thursday. Little, who has a team-best 3-1 singles record, lost his first match of the fall season against Texas Tech's Tommy MyInikor in the second round of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Houston last week.
True freshman Jimmy Bendeck will play Terrell Whitehurst of Florida State in the opening round Thursday. Bendeck won two of three matches at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships, falling to Rice's Jacob Hansen in straight sets on Oct. 25.
Bendeck and Little will also pair together in the doubles bracket, opening their tournament run in the Round of 16 against Stetson's Loic Blanco and Coilin MacNamera Thursday morning at 7 a.m. CT.
The largest clay court event in college tennis features some of the country's top players from 14 different schools, including Florida State, Baylor, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, Pepperdine, South Alabama, South Carolina, Stetson, Troy and UCF.
Select matches on Thursday and Sunday will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
