Women's Golf Wins Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

THE RUNDOWN
PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Baylor women's golf claimed the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge championship after shooting 9-over-par 293 in Tuesday's final round at Palos Verdes. The Lady Bears shot 11-over 863 in the 54-hole tournament, which was best in the field that included nine teams ranked in the nation's top 15.
Baylor finished four strokes ahead of No. 4-ranked USC (+15, 867), the 2014, 2011 and 2010 champions of the tournament. Top-ranked Washington finished in sixth place with an overall score of 32-over 884. The Lady Bears also broke the tournament record for lowest 54-hole team score - the previous lowest score of 866 was set by USC in 2014.
Hayley Davis finished in second place individually after shooting 2-over 73 in Tuesday's final round for a total score of 3-under 210. Just four strokes behind Davis was newcomer Dylan Kim, who finished in a tie for fourth place in her first collegiate tournament. Kim shot even-par 71 in Tuesday's final round for a total score of 1-over 214.
Laura Lonardi finished in a tie for 16th place with a total score of 7-over 220 after shooting 5-over 76 in the final round. Giovana Maymon shot 2-over 73 for an overall score of 11-over 224 and finished in a tie for 29th place, and Louise Gateau-Chovelon finished in 77th place after shooting 14-over 85 for an overall score of 24-over 237.
HIGHLIGHTS
? The Lady Bears led the 16-team field in birdies with 38 through the three rounds.
? Davis posted the second-best average in par-4 scoring at 3.94. Davis also led the individual field in birdies with 15 over 54 holes.
? Lonardi posted the second-most pars through the three rounds with 39.
? All BU players contributed birdies in the third round: Kim led with four, Davis and Maymon had two apiece and Lonardi and Gateau-Chovelon each had one.
STAT OF THE DAY
2 - categories in which the Lady Bears led the field in scoring. BU finished with ties for the best averages in both par-3 and par-4 scoring, at 3.20 and 4.18, respectively.
