DALLAS (AP) - Nina Davis scored 30 points and made a career-high six steals Saturday, leading No. 6 Baylor to an 82-70 victory over Kansas State in a Big 12 Conference women's basketball tournament quarterfinal.
Davis, a sophomore recognized as the conference's player of the year before tipoff, also grabbed six rebounds.
Niya Johnson, the Division I assist leader, had 11 assists for the Lady Bears (28-3). Imani Wright added 14 points and Kristy Wallace 13 for Baylor. Kansas State (18-13) was led by a season-high 25 points from freshman Haley Texada of suburban Dallas.
After Texada's 3-pointer 44 seconds in accounted for the game's first score, Baylor used a 12-point run to grab the lead for good and led by 16 at halftime.
The Lady Bears led by 24 five minutes into the second half. But K-State pulled within six points with three minutes to go. A jumper by Davis and a layup by Wright thwarted the Wildcats' comeback.
Wallace hit three 3-pointers, all during the first half. The Lady Bears went into the game averaging only 3.2 a game, last in the conference. They made four, all during the opening half.
