LUBBOCK, Texas - The second-ranked Baylor men's tennis team took care of business with a 4-1 victory over No. 16 Texas Tech Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The win earned the Bears (20-4, 4-1) at least a share of the Big 12 title regular-season title for the third straight year, the 12th time in the last 14 years and the program's 13th regular season trophy overall.
Top-ranked Oklahoma will have a chance to tie BU's 4-1 conference mark when the Sooners play host to Oklahoma State Sunday at 1 p.m. If OU were to lose, the Bears would claim the title outright.
To take down the Red Raiders on their home turf, Baylor used a win in the doubles point and singles victories on courts five, four and one.
The Bears swept the doubles point to improve to 22-1 on the year in the opening point.
First the 25th-ranked duo of Julian Lenz and Diego Galeano upset 16th-ranked Felipe Soares and Hugo Dojas, 6-4, at the No. 1 spot.
Following that win, the Bears clinched the opening point as Vince Scneider and Felipe Rios took care of Alex Sendegeya and Jolan Cailleau, 7-5, at the No. 2 spot. With the point already decided, Tony Lupieri and Max Tchoutakian downed Francisco Zambon and Connor Curry, 7-5, at the No. 3 spot.
In singles action, Baylor quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Rios handled Zambon, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot and the 112th-ranked Zsiga took out No. 106 Cailleau, 6-1, 6-2, on court four to put the Bears on the brink of victory. Texas Tech would get its lone point of the match as Schneider fell, 6-3, 6-2, to Curry on court six.
At the top of the lineup, the second-ranked Lenz blew past No. 33 Soares, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the match and the Big 12 title for the Bears.

Baylor will host the Big 12 Championships at the Hurd Tennis Center next week. The men's bracket begins on Friday and runs through Sunday. BU will have a first-round bye and will either be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed at the event.
