
WBB's Wallace and Gems Defeat Brazil in U19 Tourney

CHEKHOV, Russia - Baylor sophomore Kristy Wallace and her Australian Gems teammates moved to 2-0 in Group D play in the FIBA Under 19 Women's World Championships on Sunday, July 19 in Chekhov, Russia. The Gems defeated Brazil, 62-48.
Wallace, a 5-11 guard, tallied seven points and added a rebound and a steal in 21:14 minutes of action. Australia trailed 28-23 at the half but ended the third quarter with a 44-39 lead which it never relinquished. The Gems out-rebounded Brazil, 55-40.
During the group phase of the U19 Championship in which the Gems will be playing in the Chekhov Sports Centre, the Australians will be participating in Group D where after defeating Serbia (105-62) and Brazil (62-48), they will now take on Korea on Tuesday, July 21. The Final Phase of the tournament will begin on Wed., July 22.
