WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. â '¬" Baylor soccer fell in a heartbreaker at Purdue, 2-1, Friday evening at Boilermaker Soccer Complex in the 2015 Boilermaker Challenge Cup. The Bears (0-3-0) knotted the game in the 84th minute but the Boilermakers (3-0-0) answered quickly to regain the lead and seal the win.
Baylor was put on its heels right away as Purdue scored in the third minute of the match. A cross by Hannah Leinert from the left wing was booted in by Maddy Williams in the middle of the box from about 10 yards out.
The Bears didn't get many looks in the first half â '¬" just two shots â '¬" but made up for it in the second half with eight shots, four on goal. BU came close in the 77th minute as Lauren Piercy's shot from the middle of the box hit the crossbar. A few minutes later, Julie James corralled the ball in the box and fired from five yards out. The ball was deflected by Purdue goalkeeper Erika Yohn and bounced off the left post, where Sarah King was waiting for an easy tap-in for the equalizer in the 84th minute.
Unfortunately less than two minutes later, Purdue rallied furiously. Leinert again served up another good cross and found Dagny Olson in the box for a shot that made its way through traffic to the back of the net in the 85th minute for the game-winner.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"Tonight was a tale of two halves. They played better in the first and we played better in the second. We have to learn from this and turn around pretty quickly for a match against another good team in Indiana. Our girls are learning a ton because the competition has been really good. We see where the holes are, we have a great mentality and we will grow from here." â '¬" Head Coach Paul Jobson
