Volleyball Claims Five-Set Win vs. Northern Iowa

FORT COLLINS, Colo. --
Baylor volleyball battled for a five-set win over Northern Iowa on Saturday afternoon at Colorado State's Moby Arena. The Bears won the match 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 15-8 to claim the first victory of the Ryan McGuyre era.

The Bears had 14 blocks, including a career-high nine blocks from Andie Malloy, which more than doubled her previous career best of four blocks. Tola Itiola added seven blocks, one shy of her career high, Jordan Vail added four blocks and Katie Staiger, Shelly Fanning and Amanda Lesikar had two blocks apiece. Baylor hit .198 as a team and held Northern Iowa to .136.

Malloy had her second double-double of the season with 17 kills and 13 digs. She also finished one block shy of becoming the fourth different player in program history to record a double-double with kills, digs and blocks. Morgan Reed had a team-high 22 assists and Amy Rosenbaum added 19 assists. Jana Brusek led the team with 22 digs.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Baylor trailed 20-21 in the second set before going on a 5-2 run to win the set 25-23.
• Baylor hit .344 as a team in the third set, posting 12 kills and only one error in 32 total attacks.
• Baylor won the final seven points of the fifth set after the teams were tied 8-8.
Andie Malloy had a career-high nine blocks -- doubling her previous high of four, which she accomplished twice last season.
• Malloy finished one block shy of joining Cory Sivertson, Stella Odion and Tatiana Kenon as the only Bears to record triple-doubles with kills, digs and blocks.
• Malloy had her second double-double of the season and 18th of her Baylor career.

STAT OF THE DAY
9 -- Andie Malloy had a career-high nine blocks, more than twice as many as her previous career high of four. She came up one block shy of posting Baylor's first triple-double since 2009 and its first triple-double that included blocks since 2004.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor takes on UC Davis at 2 p.m. CT Sunday in its final match at the Rams Volleyball Classic. BU then returns home to host the Hampton Inn Waco North Baylor Invitational next weekend, beginning with a 4 p.m. Friday game against Sam Houston State.
