WACO, Texas - USA Volleyball is gearing up for the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, taking place Feb. 19-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

For the second-consecutive season, Baylor will be sending three student-athletes to the tryouts, with senior Andie Malloy, junior Tola Itiola, and freshman Shelly Fanning representing BU.

For Malloy, it will be a chance to rejoin the U.S. Collegiate National team after she was selected as a member for each of the last two seasons. Malloy has been selected to tour each those years, travelling to China and South Korea.

Malloy was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in her two seasons in a Baylor uniform, in both 2014 and 2015. Fanning, making her first trip to the tryouts as a Bear, had a stellar freshman season, earning second-team All-Big 12 and the Big 12 All-Freshman team.

Itiola has led Baylor in blocks each of her seasons as a full-time starter, in both her sophomore and junior seasons.

"It's a great opportunity for these girls to go represent Baylor on the national and international stage," said Baylor head coach Ryan McGuyre. "The things we're training in the gym are similar to what USA trains and coaches. We think we have girls that are talented enough to represent the U.S. now, and in the future. I'm just glad we're in a place to be able to support them and send them to the tryouts to go continue to develop their great skills and to work with some other great coaches, as well."

231 athletes from 88 colleges and universities will be participating in the tryout, which will place both members of the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National teams. Selected athletes will be notified in early March and USA Volleyball will announce the selections at the end of March.
