Opening Statement...
"I was proud how we competed and played for about 36 minutes. Then I wish we could have that last four minutes over again. I do not think we executed as well as we would like. We did not rebound as well as we would like down that stretch, but I think we have seen a marked improvement from the first time we played them. There are no moral victories, but I like how we are headed in the right direction and we need to keep building off of it. These games will hopefully prepare us for games later in the rest of the month as well as March."
On rebounding at the end of the game...
"Well I think (Landen) Lucas had five big rebounds and (Wayne) Selden had four. Normally we do a pretty good job blocking out with wings flying and putting a body on the bigs. The big thing is we got 20 offensive rebounds and they got 12, but they got 15 second-chance points and we got 14. So they were just more efficient when they were getting them. If we were the same efficiency level as they were then say you finish with 22 points and now it is a different game."
On Rico Gathers' 3-point basket...
"He has been working on that corner three so we are glad he got to show it off. It worked and I thought that gave us great momentum."
On the crowd...
"I thought the crowd did a very good job and I thought we gave them some stuff to cheer for just wish the last four minutes we could have back. They helped with those two or three shot clock violations, because their noise level made it to where they could not hear they bench count down."
Senior Taurean Prince
On Kansas' rebounding...
"It is sad to say but they probably just wanted it more than we did. That is what it seemed like. Their guys were flying in and like coach said we were not boxing out and doing our jobs. That is on us."
On Selden's defensive game...
"I was just trying to be aggressive and open it up for my teammates and continue to shoot."
Sophomore Al Freeman
On the offense at the end of the game...
"I am going to have to go back and watch the film, but I think that in the second half we got off to a great start and went up eight or nine. At the end of the game they were able to get some 50-50 balls and offensive rebounds that really made the difference at the end of the game. After the first 36 minutes we were ahead of them and had the lead and winning the battle on the glass. The last four minutes was just tough and it will be a great learning experience when we go back and look at the film. If we get in this position again we will remember this and be able to put the other team away."

Head Coach Bill Self
On Landen Lucas and Wayne Selden Jr...
"I wasn't very pleased with our personnel the first 30 minutes of the game those two (Wayne Selden and Landen (Lucas) really struggled. I got to them hard at halftime, probably too hard, but they really struggled the first half. Wayne did a great job on (Taurean) Prince. Those offensive rebounds were special. The drive and the scoop shot and the lob catch were great. He did a lot of great things. Then Landen, with two seconds left on the shot clock and he fans it just wide open. There's just a lot of things we didn't do very smart, but he guarded (Johnathon) Motley great down the stretch. Then to play the last nine minutes without a foul and to control the glass for at least an eight-minute stretch when we haven't controlled it all the whole game was huge for us."
On Frank Mason..
"We can make a case where Wayne (Selden) has been our best player and certainly when Perry (Ellis) has been our best player, but there is no one more valuable than Frank (Mason). He does some things that are just tough. He makes tough plays. Even though we didn't have good offense, it seems like to me he made a couple of big threes, and he got inside the defense and drove it hard. I thought he and Devonte' (Graham) were pretty good."
On the rebounding battle ...
"Statistically, we held them to 36 percent, which was great, but they miss 39 shots and get 20 back. On the flip side we missed 23 and get 12 back so at least we did compete down the stretch on the glass. That was a huge key because early on. We started out six to nothing on the glass, and then it was like 26 to 15. That means they went on a 26 to nine run on the glass. That's a difference of 17 and for us to cut it to five late that means we really rebounded the ball the last 12 minutes or so."
Junior Wayne Selden
On playing through early struggles...
"I was struggling all night and I just was trying to find a way to impact the game, and it was rebounding. That was big. Me and Landen (Lucas) knew we had to get to the glass, so I just tried to crash the boards and get extra possessions."
Junior Landen Lucas
On playing through early struggles...
"It was tough. Coach was challenging us, Wayne (Selden) and I the whole time. The good thing is, even if the offense isn't coming for either one of us the one thing we can do is create extra possessions and play well defensively. I think we did that towards the end of the game and gave our team a chance to win."
On the rebounding battle...
"They were killing us on the boards, and that's on me. I wasn't engaged like I should have been. Towards the end of the game I was trying to go after every rebound. I think it kind of flipped to where we were getting more offensive rebounds towards the end of the game, which really helped us come back and win the game."
