LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Baylor men's tennis team stepped outside collegiate competition for the weekend, playing at the 127th-annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.

The Bears had four doubles pairings in action in the 128-duo draw and boasted a combined record of 12-5 over three days of competition.

Advancing all the way to the main draw semifinals were Jimmy Bendeck and Julian Lenz. The BU tandem, seeded eighth at the event, rolled to five straight victories, including a 6-3, 6-4 upset of top-seeded Bojan Szumanski and Krzysztof Kwinta in the quarterfinals. They had their run ended by third-seeded Thomas Fawcett and Maciek Romanwicz in the semis by a 7-6(6), 6-2 score.

In the consolation draw, Max Tchoutakian and assistant coach Dominik Mueller reached the final. After falling in the opening round of the main draw, the duo rolled to five-straight victories, before falling to fifth-seeded Nicholas Crystal and Laurens Verboven in the consolation final.

Meanwhile, the pairings of Sam May and Tyler Stayer and Tommy Podvinski and volunteer assistant coach Robin Goodman each went 1-1 in the event.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor will now host Prairie View A&M for a tripleheader on March 14 at the Hurd Tennis Center. The first match will start at 1 p.m., followed by matches at 4 and 7 p.m. against the Panthers.
