Point guard Niya Johnson became the 11th Baylor player to be drafted by a WNBA team when she was selected by the Atlanta Dream as the No. 28 overall selection in the 2016 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm on Thursday evening at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

"I'm very excited to be able to continue my basketball career. I appreciate all that the coaches at Baylor have done to prepare me to move to the next level and I look forward to the opportunity to play for the Atlanta Dream, " said Johnson.

The 5-8 Johnson, set Big 12 Conference and Baylor records for single game, season assists and career assists. The Gainesville, Fla., native finished her collegiate career with 988 career assists which ranks No. 5 on the NCAA career assist list. She dished out 322 dimes as a junior to set a single-season league and Baylor record. In addition, she registered 19 assists vs. McNeese State as a senior to set a new league and BU mark. She owns the top three assist marks in the NCAA women's basketball for 2015-16 with 19 vs. McNeese State, 18 against both Oral Roberts and 16 vs. Idaho.

Johnson, who helped lead BU to four regular season, four Big 12 Conference tournament crowns and four NCAA Championship berths, including three straight Elite Eight appearances, posted a four-year record of 135-13 (.912). She finished her Baylor career with 778 points, 988 assists and 561 rebounds.
