BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening StatementÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Coming in to this game we knew we wanted to guard the 3-point line and obviously we didn't do as good of a job as we had liked. They hit 20 threes, but when you shoot 51 of them you're going to make some. I thought rebounding we did a very good job. Assist-wise, 41 buckets and 32 were assisted, that's very good. Disappointed we had too many turnovers. This is a team that made a good run in the second half and I thought we did a good job answering. You take out that 10 minutes in the second half and it was a good day for us. It was great to see Jo be able to relax and get 31 [points] and 20 [rebounds] in front of his family. I know he was excited about that and guys did a great job of getting him the ball."

On the balanced offensive attackÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"If you take out the turnovers and you take out their made threes, lower that to 10 or 12, then it's been a phenomenal day. This time of year, every time you turn on the T.V. there's upsets so most important thing is to make sure you get the win and we did that."

On adjusting to Savannah State's tempoÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"The biggest thing was transition defense. I saw actual improvement as the game went on, especially in the last 10 minutes. First half we were pretty good, then you get tired and give up some. Second half you come out and you're not with it, they make you pay. And then when they cut it to 10 I thought we did a much better job of sprinting back. They do have the quickest tempo in the country, they shoot every 11 seconds so that's going to make you play faster and defensively I think we got better."

Senior Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.
On playing against a high-tempo teamÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Watching film was kind of crazy, just watching the shots they take. But none of it came as a surprise to us. We knew they wanted to come out and play fast, shoot three's, so it's something we expected. We just had to make sure that we contested as much as possible and not get caught up in their game."

On his monster performance todayÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"It's great. Having a career high in points and rebounds in front of my family after not seeing them for a long time, really just caps off the week. I couldn't have written it any better."

Senior Manu Lecomte
On if they got caught up in Savannah State's tempoÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Yeah, maybe. They play super fast so we got caught up a little bit. And when they pressed it sped us up a bit. But then we had to take care of the ball. And I thought we did a good job of making the right plays in the second half.

On being in an offensive grooveÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I think we did a great job as a team of finding each other. They did a great job finding me and we did a great job feeding Jo inside, obviously they couldn't stop him. It was a really fun game."

SAVANNAH STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Savannah State Head Coach Horace Broadnax
On not having open looks early in the gameÃÆ'Æ' ¢ÃƒÆ' ¢' ¬ ¦.
"I try to tell the kids what a good shot looks like, but I also want them to have the freedom to shoot open shots. I really just want us to get the easiest shot and get it to fall. A lot of times the threes are available, but we just don't get them to fall. We don't like to play slow and turn it over at the end of the shot clock. If the shot is there early, we would rather take it early."
