Bears win two disciplines in road loss to the Cowgirls

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 3 Baylor equestrian (3-1, 0-1 Big 12) dropped its Big 12 opener with a narrow 11-9 loss to No. 7 Oklahoma State (1-1, 1-0 Big 12) Saturday at Totusek Arena in Stillwater.
The Bears and Cowgirls tied 5-5 in the hunter seat events, but OSU would take the victory after posting a 6-4 victory in the western events.
Rachael Davis earned MOP honors in equitation on the flat after posting an 83.0-76.0 victory over Hannah Coleman on Zodiac. Caroline Weaver also scored a point for the Bears with a 80.0-76.0 win over Hannah Jensen on Clever.
In fences, Gia Gulino came away with a dominant 78.0-71.0 win over Katie Schell on Ginger while Madison Day scored a 83.0-79.0 win over Cassidy Wilbourn on Oakley.
In horsemanship, Abbi Demel scored a 73.5 to edge out Sarah Miller on Allen. The Bears scored two other points in Katie Davis with a 72.0 on Phoeber and Clara Johnson with a 76.0 on Snip.
OSU pulled away late with the 4-1 victory in reining. BU's lone point came when Sydney Scheckel outscored Hannah Lovrien on Gunner, 67.0-65.0.
