Fanning Earns Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Middle blocker earns fifth career weekly honor Monday afternoon
IRVING, Texas – After another standout week in conference play, redshirt junior Shelly Fanning was tabbed the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Fanning earns her fifth career weekly honor from the conference and a team-leading third offensive award this season. She was also named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 13, 2017 and Rookie of the Week on Sept. 21, 2015.
In a perfect 2-0 week to start the second half of conference play, Fanning dominated at the net with a league-leading .510 hitting efficiency for 29 kills on 51 attempts with only three errors.
Her performance in BU's 3-0 sweep over Kansas highlighted the week as she hit an impressive .692 for 18 kills on 26 attempts with no errors.
The junior from Cypress, Texas posted the top hitting clip last week and second-highest mark of the season in the Big 12, only behind her own .741 efficiency against West Virginia on Oct. 13.
She also posted her 16th double-digit match of the season with 11 kills on a .320 hitting clip at TCU Wednesday night, improving her league-leading mark to .397 through 21 matches.
Fanning's honor brings the 2018 weekly award total to five, all of which are offensive recognitions. The 2017 squad compiled a program-record 15 honors in a single season.
