
Men’s Tennis Announces 2019 Spring Schedule

Bears slated to have 14 home dual-matches in spring season.
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis has unveiled its 2019 spring schedule, announced by first-year Director of Tennis Brian Boland Monday afternoon.
Baylor opens its dual-match season by hosting a doubleheader on Jan. 18 with UT-Arlington and Prairie View A&M coming to the Hurd Tennis Center. Then, BU welcomes Penn for a match on Monday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. CT.
Next up for the Bears is the ITA National Indoor Kick-Off Weekend, which will serve as the qualifying rounds of the 2019 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. On Saturday, Jan. 26, second-seeded Baylor will face Georgia in the opening round while top-seeded Michigan takes on fourth-seeded NC State in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The two winners of the Jan. 26 matches will advance to the championship match on Sunday, Jan. 27, where they will face off for a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
If it wins both matches of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, Baylor will again take part in ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago, Ill., from Feb. 15-17.
In between the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and the national event, the Bears have four matches. First, BU will host South Florida on Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. in Waco. Then, the Bears play a doubleheader against Nebraska and UTRGV at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3.
Baylor will then head to 2018 NCAA Champion Wake Forest to take on the Demon Deacons on Saturday, Feb. 9.
Following the indoor championships, Baylor will head to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
BU will then host a four-match home stand, matches against Illinois (March 1) and Purdue (March 2) and then hosting Arkansas (March 7) and Columbia (March 12).
Three days later, the Bears travel to face top tier opponents in three neutral site matches at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge from March 15-17 in Indian Wells, Calif.
Two home matches await the Bears' return to Waco as BU hosts Arizona State on March 23 at 6 p.m., followed by its Big 12 opener against TCU on March 29 at 6 p.m.
The Bears continues conference play in Austin against Texas on March 31 at 6 p.m. and then return home to close out the regular season against Oklahoma (April 5) and Oklahoma State (April 7) at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The 2019 Big 12 Championship will be held in Lawrence, Kan., on April 19-21, while the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships will be held at select campus sites, May 3-5. One week later, the top-16 teams will play in campus regionals on May 10-11.
The NCAA Championship final site will travel to be May 16-21 in Orlando, Fla., to determine the NCAA champion. Following the team portion, the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be May 22-25 in Orlando as well.
The Bears return eight letterwinners from last year's team that earned its 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.
