BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement:
"Well that's typically a Big 12 game. A lot of runs, a lot of physicality and at the end of the day we were able to make a couple more shots. Nine-for-nine from the free throw line was critical down the stretch and when they made their run I thought Mark Vital's and-1 was a real big play and it was great to see us regain our composure and finally break through on the road."

On key to holding on to the late charge in the second half:
"First of all we were able to get some stops and we were able to come down from there and transition and get some easier baskets when they were scoring and we were coming down and getting deep in the shot clock we weren't getting much. The crowd was getting into it and they were coming down and pushing it. They are really good in transition and we did a really good job with that."

On getting their first true road win:
"Long time coming. We have been close and it's great to breakthrough. It's especially for the players, it's great to see them excited and happy because we have had a number of tough losses on the road."

On holding Oklahoma State in the second half:
"They missed some shots and I thought they had some decent looks and in Kansas they made those shots and unfortunately in coaching you try to control the defense, make them as tough as you can. They missed some and for the most part we did a decent job contesting."

Forward Nuni Omot
On first true road win...
"It felt great honestly...any win feels great but on the road, especially in the Big 12, it's hard to get a win because every team competes and every team is good. You can't let off on anybody and obviously they just came off a big win so for us to get a win on the road is really good."

Guard Manu Lecomte
On what changed defensively...
"Just getting stops in the second half. First half we were playing good defense but they were making tough shots and they were making good shots. In the second half we adjusted the game plan a little bit and played better defense and won on a run in first five minutes in the second half and I think that is what made the difference."

OKLAHOMA STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Mike Boynton
On similarities to the loss at Waco:
"We didn't have the focus that we needed tonight ... maybe a little hangover from the other day. Maybe we're still thinking about that one, unfortunately. A few things were pretty telling. We went 7-of-15 from the free throw line ... less than 50 percent for a team that leads the league. Then there was the scoring drought. We had several opportunities and weren't able to capitalize to stop them from extending the run."

On shots not falling:
"You go from having the opportunity to get a 3-point play, and not only do you not make the layup, you don't make either free throw. Now it starts in your psyche that you've gotta finish those plays. There's no question about that. Cam knows that, and he'll do better next time."

On the matchup:
"That's one of the unique things about the Big 12. Every single game you're facing a totally different challenge. Kansas was so guard-oriented, 3-point-shot happy ... that's the way they play. Baylor, they shoot 3s, but they certainly like to play us out a little bit more"

On defending Lecomte to make a run:
"Our defensive focus for about five or six minutes was pretty good. We got some turnovers, which led to baskets. That's when we're our best, but our half-court offense wasn't bad. We got some good looks. We didn't make enough of them, and like I said the scoring drought was really what probably killed us."

On the "rollercoaster" that is the Big 12:
"We just can't string it together over two consecutive games. Tonight was a great opportunity to build on what we did in Lawrence on Saturday, without that game being the focus of it. We needed to come out with the fight and fire we had and the focus. I thought we competed. I thought we played hard, but we certainly didn't focus the way we needed to. We had nine turnovers in the first half against a zone. Then to go 7-for-15 from the free throw line just goes to show you where our minds are at."

On what he sensed from the players after the game:
"Probably disappointment. They know every opportunity here they miss out on is one they won't get back. We've had several of these now in league play that you just kind of wish you could do over or approach differently, but the truth is we've gotta move on and get ready for a really good West Virginia team in Morgantown on Saturday. They are not going to play zone for one possession, in fact. It will be a very physical game, one that will be very physically taxing on everyone who plays. Between now and then we've gotta get ourselves back in a place where we can get prepared for it."

Forward Mitchell Solomon
On what changed since the game against Kansas:
"I think our attention to detail changed. We didn't make place that we made at Kansas. Both on the offensive end and defensive end and I think that showed."

On if he approached the game with more of a defensive mindset:
"I was just trying to play as hard as I can. I didn't really have a different mindset than any other game, I just was in the right position tonight."

On the nine minute scoring drought:
"I think we might have relaxed a little too much. It hurts when shots don't fall but we could've been more patient and got better shots. Sometimes you just have those stretches."

Guard Kendall Smith
On how coach Boynton was motivating the team during Baylor's 16-0 run:
"I think he just tried to light a fire under us. That second unit that came in they really brought a lot of energy and helped us get back in that game. So credit to them for that but our focus just wasn't there. Obviously coming off a game like Saturday, we would want to capitalize but our focus just wasn't there."

On falling behind in the second half the last few games:
"Honestly I think we're focusing on our crowd to pick us up to much. Obviously with this second half of Big 12 play, our games are on Tuesday's and not Saturday's so we don't really have the crowd that we expected but we can't make that be our excuse. We still got to come out every night with the same mindset no matter who's in the crowd. I just think that we're focusing on that a little bit too much and it can't be that way if we want to win."
