THE RUNDOWN
SAN MARCOS, Texas - Baylor baseball rolled to a 17-5, seven-inning run-rule win vs. Texas State on Tuesday evening at Bobcat Ballpark. The Bears (23-17) used an 11-run seventh inning to overwhelm the Bobcats (21-19-1).
Trailing 3-0 after the first inning, Davion Downey hit a two-run single in the second to keep the Bears close. However, Texas State got a run back in the second.
Baylor flipped a two-run deficit into a two-run lead in the fifth. Richard Cunningham had an RBI double, Andy Thomas hit an RBI single and Cole Haring posted a two-out, two-run single for a 6-4 lead.
The Bobcats cut the lead down to one with a run in the bottom of the fifth but then BU put the game away in the seventh. Downey had an RBI walk and RBI double, Haring had a two-run single and RBI double, T.J. Raguse hit an RBI single, Nick Loftin had a run score on a wild pitch before hitting a two-run double, Cunningham roped an RBI single and Thomas hit into a double play to score a run.
BU reliever Jimmy Winston (1-0) earned the win, giving up a run on five hits with one strikeout in 3.1 innings. Kyle Hill notched his first save, tossing two scoreless innings with one strikeout. Texas State reliever Broc Bosse (2-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in one inning.

*Baylor has won nine of its last 10 games and seven straight.
*Baylor had a program-record 10 straight batters reach safely in the seventh, breaking the record of nine vs. Kansas on March 28, 2010 in third inning.
*Baylor had six straight batters reach via hit in the seventh inning for first time since April 3, 2010 vs. Missouri in eighth inning (seven straight).
