Lah Advances to Mixed Doubles Final in Malibu

Sophomore Bear goes 2-0 with WSU’s Bayerlova for spot in championship match
MALIBU, Calif. – Baylor men's tennis sophomore Sven Lah earned a spot in the mixed doubles final after a successful day two at the Oracle ITA Masters Friday at the Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
In mixed doubles play, sixth-seeded Lah and Michaela Bayerlova (Washington State) pushed past Christian Sigsgaard (Texas) and Erica Oosterhout (Harvard) in the quarterfinals, 6-4.
In the semifinals, Lah and Bayerlova took down Stefan Milicevic (Minnesota) and Kate Fahey (Michigan), 8-4, for a spot in Saturday's final.
Lah and Bayerlova match up against top-seeded Yuya Ito of Texas and Lisa Marie Rioux of Oklahoma State on Friday.
Despite taking the opening set in singles action, No. 33 Johannes Schretter fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to 12th-ranked Mitch Harper (Virginia Tech) while Lah dropped a 6-1, 6-2 defeat to No. 54 Christian Sigsgaard (Texas) in the second round.
They both finish the tournament with a 1-1 singles record.
