MT Tabbed No. 11 in ITA Preseason Rankings

Bears receive top-15 preseason ranking for the 11th time since 2008
WACO, Texas – For the 11th time in the last 12 seasons, Baylor men's tennis is a preseason top-15 team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, released Wednesday afternoon by the organization.
Coming in at No. 11, the Bears are the second-highest ranked Big 12 team behind No. 8 Texas. Last season, BU was also No. 11 in the preseason rankings before rising to a season-best No. 9 ranking during their 21-10 campaign that ended in the NCAA Second Round.
The Bears have 10 matches against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes for the 2019 season: No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 8 Texas, No. 12 Georgia, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 14 TCU, No. 16 Illinois, No. 21 Oklahoma State, No. 24 Arizona State, Arkansas (RV) and Texas Tech (RV).
Seven letterwinners return from last year's squad, including No. 17 Will Little, No. 33 Johannes Schretter and No. 105 Constantin Frantzen in singles play. The third-ranked doubles duo of Jimmy Bendeck and Sven Lah return after earning the program's first ITA All-American Championship title last fall.
The Bears open the 2019 season with a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M and UT-Arlington on Friday, Jan. 18. The matches will be played at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT, respectively.
