Bears Start Unblemished at ITA Regionals

Bears go 4-0 in first day of ITA regional tournament

WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis went an unblemished 4-0 on day one of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Friday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
With weather forcing the tournament indoors, freshmen Rahul Dhokia and Christopher Frantzen started out the morning in doubles action. The duo took an 8-3 win over Abilene Christian's Taine Bernhard and Sebastian Langdon in the opening round.
They join two Baylor tandems in the round of 64 tomorrow. Fourth-seeded Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen and sixth-seeded Ryan Dickerson and Matias Soto had first-round byes.
In singles action, Constantin Frantzen captured a 6-3, 6-3 win over Texas Tech's Jackson Cobb in the first round. Then, Dickerson recorded a 6-4, 6-0 victory against SMU's Tomas Vaise while Christopher Frantzen finished off the night with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph over Rice's Eric Rutledge.

The Bears will have nine matches on tap for Saturday at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. Doubles play will begin at 8 a.m. CT at the Hurd Tennis Center, followed by singles action at 9:15 a.m.
