Senior knocks off highest-ranked opponent of his career

WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis senior Constantin Frantzen captured a big win, and two doubles tandems advanced to the quarterfinals on day two of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
In singles action, Frantzen tallied the highest-ranked win of his career with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 1 seed and second-ranked Christian Sigsgaard of Texas on court four. He booked a spot in Sunday's round of 16.
He opened the day with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Rice's Karul Paluch in the round of 64.
Doubles play kicked off the morning with fourth-seeded senior Constantin Frantzen and junior Sven Lah taking an 8-3 win over SMU's Juan Bianchi and Jan-Simon Vrbsky. Then, senior Ryan Dickerson and junior Matias Soto tallied an 8-3 victory over Lamar's Axel Vila Antuna and Nicolas Mayr.
Both duos closed out the night with two victories. Dickerson and Soto took an 8-6 win over Texas A&M's Stefan Storch and Austin Abbrat on court one to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. Frantzen and Lah joined their teammates with an 8-3 victory over Prairie View A&M's Jorge Juarez and Xavier Lawrence on court two.
In singles play, seventh-seeded and No. 44 Lah took a 6-0, 6-2 victory over SMU's Kyle Sillman in the round of 64 and then recorded a 7-5, 6-2 win against Incarnate Word's Marko Galic in the round of 32.
Christopher Frantzen dropped a 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 loss to SMU's Caleb Chakravarthi in the round of 64 while Dhokia fell 6-1, 6-4 to UTSA's Javier Rodriguez. Dhokia captured a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Pascal Lorieul in a consolation match.
Dhokia and Frantzen ended their run in the doubles draw with an 8-5 loss to UT-Arlington's Alejandro Hayen and Alan Sau Franco.
Dickerson won his round of 64 match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over UTSA's Juri Reckow but then dropped a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 loss to TCU's Luc Fomba in the next round.
Second-seeded and No. 14 Soto dropped a 7-5, 7-6(3) match to UTA's Miguel Cabrera but then won 6-3, 6-1 over Lamar's Brock Lauer in the consolation bracket.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears have two doubles tandems in Sunday's quarterfinals. Soto/Dickerson will face third-seeded Eric Rutledge and Sumit Sarkar of Rice while Frantzen/Lah will battle UT's Cleeve Harper and Chih Chi Huang at 9 a.m. CT.
In singles action, Lah will face UT's Jacob Bullard while Frantzen will take on Texas A&M's Noah Schachter. Those matches are slated for 10:45 a.m. start.
In the consolation draw, Dhokia will face SMU's Avery Pennywell at approximately 9 a.m.
