No. 8 EQ Welcomes Delaware State, UC Davis for Willis Invitational

Bears open home schedule with two head-to-head meets this weekend
WACO, Texas – No. 8 Baylor equestrian (0-1) will host the 11th-annual Willis Invitational starting at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
The tournament consists of three individual head-to-head meets, featuring matchups with UC Davis (0-0) and Delaware State (0-0). Baylor will open play against DSU at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by the first half of the meet against the Aggies. On Saturday, the Bears and Aggies will wrap up the second half of the meet, and the Hornets and Aggies will close out the tournament Saturday afternoon.
"We are very excited to be back home this weekend to host the 11th-annual Willis Invitational," head coach Casie Maxwell said. "It will be great to be back at home this weekend and have the opportunity to defend our home arena. We have the opportunity to compete a lot of different athletes and continue to give some of them the chance to gain valuable experience in the arena."
BU has claimed all ten previous Willis Invitational titles, sweeping all three matchups in the 2018 tournament with wins over No. 8 Fresno State, UT Martin and a 14-2 victory over Delaware State.
BU holds a 10-2 series lead over Delaware State with its lone loss coming in a 8-6 score on March 3, 2018. BU will play UC Davis for the first time in program history.
Last week, Baylor dropped their season opener at No. 5 SMU. The Bears won fences, 3-2, but dropped a 5-0 decision in flat and 4-0 score in reining to start the season at 0-1. Freshman Gabrielle Marty was the Bears' lone Most Outstanding Performer in horsemanship in her collegiate debut.
