Preview: No. 1 VB Closes Road Slate at West Virginia

WACO, Texas – Top-ranked Baylor volleyball (23-1, 13-1 Big 12) will close out its road schedule with a Tuesday matchup at West Virginia (11-16, 2-12 Big 12) inside WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.

The match is slated for a 5 p.m. CT start and will be available on WVUSports.com.

BEARS WRAP UP ROAD SCHEDULE AT WEST VIRGINIA
• No. 1 Baylor will close out its road schedule with a Tuesday night matchup at West Virginia.
• Baylor holds an 8-1 record in road matches this season with the lone loss coming in Austin.
• Baylor's lone loss in Morgantown came in straight sets in 2014.
• BU is 9-0 against West Virginia under head coach Ryan McGuyre.
• BU looks to win its fifth-straight match in Morgantown for the first time in series history.
• BU grinded out a nail-biting five-set victory over the Mountaineers in the last road matchup.
• Baylor is in the top-35 nationally in five different stat categories heading into Tuesday's match, and four players are among the nation's top 50 in six categories (full list on pg. 3).
• BU is currently tied with Texas with one loss apiece in conference action. BU has two matches remaining and looks to capture the program's first-ever Big 12 title.

A WIN WOULD…
• A win would be Baylor's 10th consecutive win over the Mountaineers.
• A win would be Baylor's fifth-straight win in Manhattan, a new series best.
• A win would give Baylor a program-best 14-1 conference record with two matches remaining.
• A win would give Baylor eight straight victories in conference play.
• A win would give Baylor an unblemished 7-0 record in the second half of Big 12 action.
• A win would give Baylor the season sweep over the Wildcats for the sixth time in program history and fifth time under McGuyre.
• A win would put BU within one match of clinching at least a share of the team's first Big 12 title.
• A win would give BU a 7-1 record in Big 12 road matches this season, a new program best.

BACK ON TOP OF THE AVCA POLL
• Baylor volleyball came in as the top-ranked team in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, released Monday afternoon. This is the fifth week this season the Bears are No. 1.
• Before Baylor's loss to No. 4 Texas on Oct. 23, the Bears were the top-ranked team in the poll for four consecutive weeks earlier this season.
• The No. 1 ranking achieved originally on Sept. 30 topped the previous all-time program record set at No. 2 a week earlier. BU's 61 first-place votes are also a program record set on Sept. 30.
• Volleyball is the ninth Baylor program to earn a No. 1 ranking and the third BU team in 2019 (women's basketball, acrobatics & tumbling).
• Baylor is the third Big 12 program to garner the No. 1 AVCA ranking, joining Texas and former member Nebraska. BU was the first conference team since 2017 to hold the top spot in the poll.
• BU was the last unbeaten team in DI college volleyball with an 16-0 record.
• Prior to last season's program-best No. 12 ranking, BU was ranked for 10 straight weeks and peaked at No. 17 in 2009, which stood as the program-high ranking for eight years.
• The Bears are ranked for the 51st time in program history and have received votes in the poll for 40 straight weeks dating back to the 2017 season.

ROAD WARRIORS
• Baylor is 8-1 in true road matches in 2019 and recently swept K-State in Manhattan.
• Baylor was 7-4 on the road in 2018, including a season-best five-match win streak.
• BU is 35-21 all-time in road matches under head coach Ryan McGuyre.
• On the road, BU is 6-1 in three sets, 1-0 in four sets and 1-0 in five-set matches.
• Including the 2017 conference season, BU is 19-4 in Big 12 road matches under McGuyre and has only dropped matches at Texas and Kansas in that stretch.

LAST TIME VS. WEST VIRGINIA (Oct. 26, 2019)
• No. 1 Baylor captured its 100th win of the Ryan McGuyre era with a 3-1 victory over West Virginia on Oct. 26 at the Ferrell Center, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18.
• Pressley led the Bears with 14 kills while middles Stafford (12) and McGhee (11) combined for 23 kills on 42 swings with only two errors.
• Defensively, Wulf led with 17 digs while McGhee had nine stuffs at the net.
