BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement…
"That's a typical Big 12 game. It comes down to last five minutes, a few possessions here and there and you really have to credit Coach Huggins with being shorthanded and having a couple of new guys or guys who haven't played much play major minutes today. I have to credit our guys for continually fighting and hanging in there, and then finally in the last five minutes we were able to get a couple of stops and get a run and get the lead and actually get a little separation."
Â
On the tempo of the game…
"They controlled the tempo…early on in the game both teams had foul trouble and that changed up both teams' plans."
Â
On Devonte (Bandoo)'s impact on the game…
"Devonte not having the full summer here, kind of got off to a slower start early in the year… and then now you are really seeing what he is capable of shooting wise, and when you're stretching the defense like that it really helps with us."
Â
Baylor Redshirt Sophomore Mario Kegler
On showing versatility.…
"I feel like we have enough guys and different guys on each team that can switch it up and play… we went out there and showed it tonight."
Â
Baylor Junior Devonte Bandoo
On his offensive production…
"I got great teammates also that tell me to shoot the ball even though some days I feel like I'm not open, they still want me to shoot the ball. I know they believe in me that I can shoot those shots."
Â
Baylor Redshirt Sophomore Mark Vital
On being down in the game…
"Every possession counts, so I knew that at that moment we're down. So when we see all those balls, we have to get them because every possession counts in the Big 12."
WEST VIRGINIA POSTGAME QUOTES
Â
West Virginia Head Coach Bob Huggins
On team effort….
"It was alright. We are playing a lot of young and new guys, and these guys have been through a lot. I think we can get this thing turned and win some games this year."
Â
On Mark Vital….
"That's a big sophomore. I said he may be the first MVP of the league who scores seven or eight points a game. He is unselfish and a team guy."
Â
On technical foul….
"We missed some shots. It wasn't like we didn't have shots, we just didn't make them. We didn't execute well, and they were changing defenses. We had young guys on there and you have to coach every dribble."
Â
On passing the ball…
"It was better. We were so bad yesterday and we were shooting all over. Our problem is they don't know where to look. They stick to the first option and when the first option is taken, they don't know where to look."
Â
On Brandon Aber's injury…
"No, it is the same. It is a really deep bruise. He can't turn his head so, it will be awhile. It happened in practice."
