Bears look to improve on 4-0 home record Friday
WACO, Texas – It has been since March of 1991 that Baylor and Washington State have played each other in women's tennis, but that near 28-year hiatus comes to an end Friday at 5 p.m. at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
The Bears (5-4) will put their perfect 4-0 home record to the test vs. the Cougars, who come to town with a 6-1 mark on the season. WSU's only loss of the season came Jan. 27 at No. 1-ranked Stanford in a 4-0 loss.
Baylor is coming off three-straight losses, all to ranked opponents. The Bears fell at No. 6 Texas (4-0) Jan. 27, lost 5-2 at No. 17 Miami Feb. 1 and dropped a 6-1 decision at Central Florida Sunday. But, Baylor gets to return to Hawkins where the team strung together four-straight wins from Jan. 19-21.
On March 23, 1991, Baylor defeated Washington State 9-0 in Waco in the schools' only other meeting.
