EQ Lands 26 on Academic All-Big 12 Team

Bears have 22 on first team, four on second team

IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian landed a league-best 26 Academic All-Big 12 selections, including 22 first teamers, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

The 66-member team featured 54 first team and 12 second team selections, with Baylor topping Oklahoma State and TCU with both 22 first team honorees and a combined 26 total selections.

Baylor's first team honorees included Brookie Bancroft, Nicole Begala, Aspen Crew, Katie Davis, Rachael Davis, Madison Day, Kaylynn DeBernard, Corinne Delius, Abbi Demel, Mackenzie Ennis, Gia Gulino, Shannon Hogue, Samantha Howell, Michelle Mallett, Sam Matthews, Kaylee Mellott, Carly Salter, Kacie Scharf, Sydney Scheckel, Georgia Smith, Grace Thiel and Caroline Weaver.

Maddie Chenoweth, Clara Johnson, Taylor Serrano and Briana Sessa earned second team honors, rounding out BU's 26 selections.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
