But, with Davis Wendzel missing his first game with sore muscles, Weaver made a couple web gems at third base and went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs as part of a 19-hit explosion to lift the No. 18 Baylor baseball team (29-12, 11-5) to a 15-2 series-clinching win over TCU (23-18, 6-8) Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.
"I thank God for giving me this opportunity," said Weaver, who came into the game with five hits in 20 career at-bats. "I'm here to serve this team. That's my mindset, and it's been my goal since I came here. After this year, I'm going to be an office r in the U.S. Army, a second lieutenant. I'm just trying to soak it all up and help them have the best experiences they can."
After winning Friday's series opener, 6-3, the Bears took the doubt of this one early with two runs in the second and a season-high eight-run outburst in the third that knocked TCU starter Charles King (3-2) out of the game.
"King came in and was throwing hard with good stuff," Baylor coach Steve Rodriguez said. "Watching our guys take some really good swings, I just sat back and said, 'Hey, just keep doing what you're doing.'''
King actually retired the first four batters of the game, but Cole Haring drew a one-out walk and scored on the first of four hits by Josh Bissonette, a single through the left side. Weaver followed with a run-scoring triple to right as Hunter Wolfe crashed into the wall.
That was just a drop in the ocean compared to what the Bears did in the next inning as 11 batters came to the plate and eight of them came around to score.
After an infield single by Nick Loftin and Richard Cunningham's double to the gap in left-center field, Shea Langeliers crushed a three-run home run off the scoreboard in left field to give Baylor the early 5-0 lead.
"I hit it pretty well," said Langeliers, who hit his fifth homer, all in the last 14 games. "All I was trying to do there was just use the middle of the field, whether it was a ground ball or a fly ball. When I felt that one come off the bat, I felt pretty good about it."
King's day was over after an error and singles by Haring and Bissonette plated another run. Baylor kept the hit parade coming against reliever Haylen Green, with Weaver driving in a run with a single, Chase Wehsener following with a two-run double and Loftin making it 10-0 with a sac fly.
"It gets all the players fired up, especially all the people in the dugout," Weaver said of Baylor's offensive attack. "The dugout is the main reason we get pumped. Every single one of those players is awesome. They're great guys, and I love them. They really pump up the energy and make everybody feel loose and ready to go."
The Bears tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning on singles by Langeliers and Weaver, sandwiched around doubles by Andy Thomas and Bissonette.
"Hitting is definitely contagious," said Langeliers, who is hitting .449 over the last 11 games. "When the guys in front of you are smoking balls, you're like, 'All right, let's go. It's my turn to smoke a ball.' It definitely keeps that positive attitude throughout the dugout when everybody's going up to the plate expecting to get a hit."
TCU broke through with two runs on three hits in the fourth, but Baylor starter Jimmy Winston (4-1) retired the next 10 batters in a row and worked through seven innings to pick up the win.
Daniel Caruso tossed two scoreless and hitless innings to close out the game, the only batter reaching base on a strikeout/wild pitch.
Rodriguez said the key for Winston is getting ahead in the count. "When he gets strikes early in the count, he's able to kind of manipulate the ball a little bit," he said. "When he gets behind in the count, it's a little bit of a different story. Watching him get ahead of hitters was good, and the guys made some really good plays behind him."
Baylor goes for its second straight series sweep of TCU with Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale, with sophomore right-hander Jacob Ashkinos (1-2, 3.56 ERA) getting the start for the Bears.
"All of our arms are going to be fresh tomorrow, including our closer," Rodriguez said. "We don't have to have somebody go out there and kind of stick it out a little bit. If they get in trouble, we can go ahead and go to the bullpen early and get a fresh arm in there if we need it."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
On the pitching staff performance…
"What's funny is you want them to save them for tomorrow as well. But I tell you what, King came in and was throwing hard with good stuff, and watching our guys take some really good swings I just sat back and said 'Hey just keep doing what you're doing." I'm really happy with the performance they had today. TCU is a really good ballclub, and having Jimmy hold them down the way he did and having our offense really put good swings on good pitches, I'm just really happy watching them go about that. At that point, I just stepped back and let them do their thing."
- Baylor head coach Steve Rodriguez
