Frantzen brothers also advance to doubles final in Lafayette

WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis closed out their second weekend of fall play with two doubles finals appearances and a title win at the Oracle ITA Masters and Cajun Tennis Classic on Sept. 26-29.
In Malibu, Calif., junior Sven Lah won the mixed doubles title with partner Natasha Subhash of Virginia on Saturday with an 8-2 victory over Carlos Aguilar and Katarina Jokic (Texas A&M/Georgia) in the finals. The duo went 5-0 over three days as the event's No. 7 seed.
Junior Matias Soto partnered with Texas' Anna Turati and recorded a 1-1 record as the No. 5 seed. The duo secured a 6-4 win in the opening round before falling 6-1 in the second round.
In singles action, 14th-ranked Soto went 1-1 in Malibu. He recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win in the round of 32 over William Mottet of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He closed out play with a 6-4, 6-4 loss to No. 23 Alex Brown of Illinois in the round of 16.
No. 44 Lah dropped his opening match with a 7-5, 7-5 loss to Cleveland State's Nico Mostardi but rebounded with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Brandon Ancona of Valparaiso.
In Lafayette, La., at the Cajun Tennis Classic, senior Constantin Frantzen went 2-2 in singles action while freshman Christopher Frantzen went 1-3.
Constantin Frantzen recorded a 3-0 (ret.) win over Arizona State's Lukas Engelhardt in the opening round but came up short against No. 97 Chase Ferguson of South Florida, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals.
Frantzen fell to Louisana's Ivailo Keredmechiev, 6-2, 7-6(5), but then closed out play with a 3-6, 7-6(4), 1-0(6) thriller over Louisiana's Jamie Fraser.
Christopher Frantzen opened singles action with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Arizona State's Christian Lerby before rallying for a 6-4, 7-5 win over Rice's Conrad Russell in consolation play. Frantzen dropped his final two matches to Louisiana's Karlo Kajin and Oklahoma State's Luke Hammond.
In doubles action, the Frantzen brothers went 2-1 to advance to the doubles final in Lafayette. They knocked off Arizona State's Makey Rakotomalala and Christian Lerby, 8-3, in the quarterfinals and advanced with a 7-6(5), 6-7(1), 1-0(7) victory over Louisana's Pearse Dolan and Kacper Dworak in the semifinals.
The duo dropped a close 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(5) loss to South Florida's Chase Ferguson and Pierre Luquet in Sunday's final.
