GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Baylor women's golf is in first place after shooting 3-under-par 285 in Sunday's first round of the IJGA Collegiate Invitational. The Bears lead a 14-team field at Guadalajara (Mexico) Country Club which includes three top-10 and 12 top-50 ranked teams.
No. 25 Baylor (-3) is in front of No. 8 Stanford (-2), No. 41 Virginia (-1), No. 18 LSU (E), No. 5 South Carolina (+2), No. 2 Arizona State (+4), No. 36 Clemson (+5), No. 37 Texas A&M (+5), No. 15 Arkansas (+5), No. 30 Florida State (+5), California (+8), No. 42 Tennessee (+9), Maryland (+13) and No. 49 Michigan (+14).
The Bears are led by Elodie Chapelet, who made seven birdies as part of a 4-under 68 to sit in a tie for second place in the 73-player field. Gurleen Kaur made five birdies and is tied for fifth place after carding 2-under 70, while Fiona Liddell shot even-par 72 and is tied for 18th place. Erica Chiang posted the Bears' final counting score at 3-over 75 to sit in a tie for 40th place, and Diane Baillieux is tied for 48th place at 4-over 76.
HIGHLIGHTS
7 – Elodie Chapelet posted a tournament-leading seven birdies in Sunday's first round, including a stretch with six birdies over eight holes. She started the round on the back-9, made her first birdie on No. 13, then posted consecutive birdies on No. 15 and No. 16 before making the turn with another birdie on No. 18, starting a string of three consecutive birdies. She posted her seventh birdie on No. 7 and finished the round with consecutive pars.

- Chiang and Chapelet are tied for second in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.75, and Kaur is tied for 11th at even-par 3.00.
- Chapelet is tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.50.
- Baillieux is tied for third in the field with 14 pars across 18 holes, and Chiang is tied for ninth with 13 pars.
