STORY LINES
• Baylor closes out its 12-game home stand when Louisiana Tech comes to town on Tuesday. The two teams will face off against each other on the diamond for the first time since March 6, 2014 (BU, 10-1).
• Baylor finished the weekend going 5-0 at the Baylor Invitational with a pair of walk-off victories and late-game heroics along with sensational pitching efforts. Gia Rodoni, Josie Bower, Aliyah Pritchett, Kyla Walker, Maddison Kettler and Emily Hott were named to the All-Tournament team.
• The Lady Bears have opened the 2020 season with an 11-0 record at home. That's the longest home winning streak to start a season since BU put together 11-straight in 2011. With a win against Louisiana Tech, BU's streak of 12-straight home victories would be the longest home winning streak to start a season since the 2009 team opened Getterman Stadium with 18-straight dubs.
• Baylor got great performances all over the board during the Baylor Invitational. Hannah Thompson, in her first start behind the plate, belted a double into center field that led off a sixth inning that brought home five runs and sealed the win for BU. Alyssa Avalos finished the weekend 2-for-2 at the plate with her first career double and four runs scored.
• Pritchett led the way at the plate for BU with a .357 average with a double and a home run, the second of her career at first at Getterman Stadium. Pritchett also pitched 11 innings and gave up one run off five hits wtih nine strikeouts. Against Minnesota, Pritchett leapt into the air to snag a line drive that would have scored a run for the Gophers in the top of the eighth.
• Rodoni pitched her fifth career no-hitter as she struck out nine in Baylor's 1-0 win over a Tulsa team that was receiving votes in the polls. Rodoni finished the weekend with a 0.00 ERA as she pitched a team-high 15 innings with six hits allowed and 16 total strikeouts.
• Kettler went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBI in the win over Illinois on Sunday.
• Baylor recorded back-to-back walk-off victories on Saturday with 2-1 wins over Texas State and No. 17 Minnesota. After Lou Gilbert drove home the winning run against Texas State, Walker slid home and beat the tag when Hott hit the ball to the shortstop against the Gophers.
• Walker hit her ninth career triple vs. Illinois on Friday to tie her atop the Baylor record books.
• Walker now has 66 multi-hit games in her career. That ties her for fourth in Baylor history alongside her sister, Kayce, who played for BU from 2009-12.
• Rodoni has 500 career strikeouts. That mark is good for sixth all-time. She's the first to hit the 500 mark since Heather Stearns finished her career with 738 from 2013-16. Whitney Canion is the all-time strikeout leader with 1,473.
• Baylor has recorded six double plays this season. Only one has been the conventional 6-4-3 as three have come from the outfield: 8-3 double play against Auburn, a 7-6-5-2 double play against Louisville and a 9-6-2-1 double play against Missouri State.
• Against Louisiana Tech, Baylor is 17-30, but the Lady Bears have won the last 14 contests by an average of 5.7 runs. The 14-game win streak has come under BU head coach Glenn Moore with nine of those games played at Getterman Stadium in Waco.
• Baylor welcomes back 17 returners and six starters from a year ago. That does not include Rodoni, Walker and Kettler who are back after missing the 2019 season due to injury.
QUICK HITS
• Baylor will play five opponents ranked in the preseason Coaches Top 10 and four opponents in the preseason Coaches Top 25. In all, the Lady Bears play 12 games against Top 10 foes and eight games against Top 25 foes.
• Of the 20 games against teams ranked the preseason Coaches Top 25, only six of them are at home (3 vs. No. 3 Oklahoma, 1 vs. No. 8 Minnesota, 2 vs. No. 6 Texas). Three are neutral-site games (2 vs. No. 9 Florida State, 1 vs. No. 23 Auburn), and the remaining 10 are true road games (1 at No. 6 Texas, 3 at No. 7 Florida, 3 at No. 13 Oklahoma State, 3 at No. 18 Texas Tech, 1 at No. 24 Arkansas).
• Baylor will play 10 games against four programs that advanced to the 2019 Women's College World Series - Oklahoma, Florida, Minnesota and Oklahoma State).
• BU was picked fifth in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll behind Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
HOME SWEET WIN STREAK
• Baylor has opened the 2020 season with 11-straight wins at Getterman Stadium. That mark ties the 2011 team which also had 11 wins to start the season at home.
• A win on Tuesday vs. Louisiana Tech would give BU 12-straight wins at home. That would be the best start to open a season at home since the 2009 team went 18-0.
