Senior Constantin Frantzen records his 70th career singles win
THE RUNDOWN
TEMPE, Ariz. – Baylor men's tennis (13-3) posted a dominant 6-1 road win at Arizona State (4-6) on Saturday at Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz.
BU improved to 3-1 in road matches this season and 4-1 all-time against the Sun Devils.
The Bears got doubles rolling early when sophomore Finn Bass and freshman Sebastian Nothhaft cruised to a 6-1 victory over Nathan Ponwith and Will Kirkman at the No. 3 spot. Senior Ryan Dickerson and sophomore Adrian Boitan clinched the opening point with a 6-3 win on court two.
In singles action, Nothhaft carried the momentum and took a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot, followed by No. 35 Sven Lah's 6-4, 6-2 win over Makey Rakotomalala on court two.
57th-ranked Boitan clinched his first match of the season when he recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Nathan Ponwith at the top of the lineup.
No. 82 Frantzen added to the lead when he took a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(6) triumph at the No. 4 spot to earn his 70th career singles win. Arizona State got its lone point of the match when Tom LeBlanc outlasted Bass, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0(5), on court five.
Dickerson closed out the match with a thrilling 6-7(7), 6-2, 1-0(11) victory over Andrea Bolla on court three.
