WACO, Texas – Baylor women's basketball added three signees for the 2022-23 season, head coach Nicki Collen announced on Wednesday.
 
Collen's first recruiting class at Baylor features a pair of high school seniors ranked in the top 10 across in the country for their respective positions as well as the No. 2 ranked JUCO player in the nation.
 
Kyla Abraham is a 6-foot-4 forward from Carrollton, Va. She is ranked No. 10 in her position and No. 62 overall in the 2022 class by ESPN HoopGurlz.
 
"Kyla has incredible potential," head coach Nicki Collen said. "She has great size and athleticism along with good natural instincts. Right now, she meets the four R's for us – rim running, rim protecting, rolling and rebounding. We hope to develop her perimeter game over time."
 
Bella Fontleroy is a 6-foot-2 guard from Springfield, Mo. She is ranked No. 8 in her position and No. 41 overall in the 2022 class by ESPN HoopGurlz. Fontleroy was named to the 2022 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Trophy Underclassmen Girls Watch List on Wednesday.
 
"She's a very skilled and versatile player who plays with great pace and a high IQ," Collen said. "She's a high-level 3-point shooter. Beyond that, she's a big-time culture kid. She's already super active in her community and is mentoring young kids. She embodies what a Baylor student-athlete can be."
 
Rounding out the class is Catarina Ferreira, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She's in her second season at Eastern Arizona College where she's coming off a freshman campaign where she put up 13.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists off 40.2 percent shooting from the floor en route to second-team NJCAA All-American honors. Ferreira is currently the No. 2 JUCO player in the country by World Exposure Report.
 
"Catarina's a shooting guard," Collen said. "She's really long and can score at all three levels. She's explosive off the bounce. She also defends at a high level with her length and athleticism."
