Bears competing at No. 16 NC State and No. 13 Wake Forest
WACO, Texas – No. 2 Baylor men's tennis hits the road for a tough test at No. 16 NC State and No. 13 Wake Forest this week, with matches set for Tuesday, March 2, and Thursday, March 4.
The Bears (14-2) own a 4-2 mark against ranked opponents this season and will look to improve that record in North Carolina against the Wolfpack (5-4) and Demon Deacons (12-3).
Tuesday's match with NC State will begin at 3 p.m. CT, while Thursday's contest against Wake Forest will start at 2 p.m. CT.
This week's road trip is a homecoming of sorts for three Bears, as Ryan Dickerson, Spencer Furman and Nick Stachowiak all previously played at Duke in Durham, N.C. Interim head coach Michael Woodson is also originally from Raleigh, N.C.
Currently, BU holds a combined 69-8 record in singles matches and a 33-12 mark in doubles action this dual season. Furman and Charlie Broom are both in search of their 10th singles win of the year.
BU has rolled out 14 different doubles pairings this spring and has claimed the doubles point in 12 of its 16 matches thus far. The Bears are 11-1 in matches when doing so.
Fourth-year junior Sven Lah is two doubles wins shy of cracking the top 10 of Baylor's career leaderboard with 77, while fifth-year senior Constantin Frantzen has moved into sole possession of fifth place with 97.
BU leads the all-time series 1-0 against NC State, winning the only previous matchup 4-0 in 2007. The Bears and Demon Deacons are tied 2-2 all-time, splitting a pair of matches last season. Baylor claimed a 5-2 victory in Waco, but Wake Forest got its revenge as part of the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championship with a 4-1 win in the most recent meeting.
Live scoring and live video will be available for both matches. Links can be found on the men's tennis schedule page of BaylorBears.com.
