Frantzen approaching history as Bears search for 10th-straight win
WACO, Texas – No. 3 Baylor men's tennis plays host to Midwestern State Tuesday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center for a 6 p.m. match in Waco.
BU (25-3) enters the contest in search of its 10th-straight victory, looking to extend a season-best win streak. The last time the Bears held a double-digit win streak was 2014, when the team won 11 in a row.
Fifth-year senior Constantin Frantzen will look to make history in the match, as a doubles win for the Augsburg, Germany, native would mark the 105th of his career, a program record. With two victories on Saturday, Frantzen tied Benjamin Becker atop BU's all-time leaderboard.
Frantzen will pair up with fellow senior Nick Stachowiak, who can eclipse the 100 doubles wins for his career as well. Stachowiak played four seasons at Duke before coming to Baylor as a graduate transfer for his final year of eligibility.
The Bears hold a 3-1 all-time series lead against the Mustangs, though the two sides have not met since 2016.
Currently, Baylor boasts a 123-22 combined record in singles play this spring, as well as a 56-19 mark in doubles dual matches. The Bears are 22-6 in the doubles point this year and own a 21-1 record in matches when winning the opening tally.
Charlie Broom leads the Bears with a 18-2 record in singles this season, while No. 62 Adrian Boitan owns six victories over ranked opponents, tied for the team-high along with No. 9 Matias Soto.
