
Bears Shift Focus to NCAA Individual Championships

No. 11 Soto, No. 21 Boitan to compete in singles, No. 9 Frantzen and Lah take court in doubles
ORLANDO, Fla. – One day after the conclusion of the NCAA Team Championship, the 2021 national runner-up Baylor men's tennis team will send four players to compete in the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus.
In singles, No. 11 Matias Soto and No. 21 Adrian Boitan will represent the Bears with first-round matches on Sunday. Boitan opens his individual run against Florida Gulf Coast's No. 88 Janmagnus Johnson at 5 p.m. CT Sunday, while Soto, a 9-16 seeded participant, takes on Wake Forest's No. 40 Eduardo Nava at 6 p.m. CT.
After garnering a 5-8 seed, No. 9-ranked Constantin Frantzen and Sven Lah will begin doubles competition on Monday against No. 21 Ewan Moore/Hamish Stewart of Tulane at a time still to be determined.
The 64-player singles tournament will be held from May 23-28, while the 32-team doubles draw will begin a day later. All matches will be best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and 7-point tiebreakers at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.

Frantzen and Lah are currently the No. 9 doubles team in the latest Oracle/ITA rankings with a 13-9 record on the year. The duo owns a 6-4 mark against nationally ranked opponents.
In singles, Soto checks in at No. 11 with a 20-6 tally this season with an 11-6 record against nationally ranked opponents, while Boitan follows close behind at No. 21 with a 17-5 record in 2021, including a 9-4 mark against ranked foes.
