Jake Baskin has been able to “think outside the box”

Returning to Baylor nearly two years ago to work in the Capital Gifts area, former baseball letterman Jake Baskin has made an impact with his commitment to principled innovation.
Nick Florence, Managing Director of Development, describes Baskin as a "great listener."
"When you listen extremely well, you allow yourself to really figure out what the best solution is," Florence said. "Whether that's for the donor, whether that's problem-solving within a team meeting, you truly take to heart what's best for the person sitting across from you and in the room with you."
That, along with his "vast experience in college athletics over the last 15 years," allows Baskin to "really think outside the box and to think differently and to think what's best for the donor and what's best for Baylor," Florence said.
Promoted to Associate AD/Senior Director of Development (Major Gifts) in the summer, Baskin has been a team player in collaborating with the Bear Foundation.
"One thing that (Jake) taught me is that every dollar is a great dollar for Baylor," said Sam Hancock, Associate Director of Resource Development. "I've seen donors that may have gone from Championship Club, in a lot of cases, and end up making a Give Light campaign gift, which is really making an impact not only on Baylor but on our student-athletes."
Chad Jackson, Senior Associate AD for Governance and Regulatory Affairs, worked with Baskin on the coaching search that brought in new head baseball coach Mitch Thompson.
"Your commitment, love and passion for Baylor baseball is huge," Jackson said. "I'm so grateful that you made a life decision to come back here and put your imprint on this community in a way that imprinted you."
Baskin's ability to "interact and steward our donors, how you take care of them," Jackson said, "is critical to how we operate here in Baylor Athletics."
