TULSA, Okla. – Baylor men's tennis brought its time at the ITA All-American Championships to a close on Sunday morning after Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi dropped the doubles consolation title match, 7-6(5), 3-6, 1-0(7), to Virginia Tech's Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback.
THE RUNDOWN
The first set of Sunday morning's match saw the Bears and Hokies trading games until the pair from Virginia Tech went on a two-set run. The Bears fought back and forced a tiebreak to decide the set, until the Hokies pulled away and took the 7-5 win.
The Bears came out for the second set looking for revenge and took a quick lead. The duo from Virginia Tech staged a comeback, but fell short and the Bears took set two, 6-3.
Baylor entered the third set tiebreak by putting the first points on the board. After going back-and-forth, Chrysostom and Fishback pulled away and took the tiebreak and bracket title, 10-7.

The Bears return home to the Hurd Tennis Center to host the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 13-18.

Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi fell to an early 3-0 deficit in the first set of Saturday afternoon's match, but quickly returned the favor and only allowed the Cardinals to one more game. The back half of set one was all Baylor as the Bears took the 6-4 win over Fabien Salle and Natan Rodrigues.
Set two began with a similar story, as the Bears fell behind 3-0 early right out of the gate. As they did in the first set, the Bears stormed back and took set No. 2 to a tiebreaker. The pair from Louisville surged and won the tiebreak 7-1.
The match all came down to a 10-point tiebreaker, where the Bears and Cardinals traded points up until the birds scored their third point. After that, Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi ran away with the tiebreaker and the win, 10-3.

While the Ducks made a late first set run to nearly take the set, the Bears stormed back to down the Ducks, 6-3. In the second set, it was all Baylor as Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi made their way to a quick 6-3 win to clinch the match.

After falling in the first doubles round on Wednesday, Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi returned to the courts again to find victory against the Martin/McDaniel pair from Georgia Tech. With a nail-biting 7-6(6) tiebreaker win in the first set, the pair stormed out and won the second set 6-2.
Tadeas Paroulek fought hard in the second round of the main singles draw, but fell after an impressive second set performance in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.

Paroulek took to the courts for the first time in singles play on Wednesday afternoon, facing off against Penn's Edoardo Graziani in the round of 64. A mirror 6-3, 6-3 sweep moves him to the round of 32, where he will face the 16th-ranked conference foe from Texas, Micah Braswell.
