Bears win 281.330-211.680 over Tigers in Marshall
MARSHALL, Texas – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics & tumbling walked away with a win over East Texas Baptist in Marshall, 281.330 – 211.680, on Wednesday night.
The Bears are now 2-0 on the season after winning the season-opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor on February 5.
Baylor scored a near perfect 38.90 in the compulsory event to jump ahead, scoring a 9.55 in acro, 9.85 in pyramid, 9.90 in toss, and 9.60 in tumbling.
The Bears pushed their lead further by scoring a total of 29.55 points in acro, including a 9.90 in the fifth element, 9.85 in the sixth element, and a 9.80 in the seventh element.
In pyramid, Baylor kept their lead by outscoring the Tigers 29.90 to 24.05. Baylor stayed on top with a total meet score of 98.35 to ETBU's 79.35 leading into the half. In inversion pyramid, BU had a 9.90, but then perfected their work in the synchronized and open pyramids with two 10.00 heats. It was Baylor's first perfect 10 scores of the season.
The Bears continued their lead through the toss event, scoring 29.90 for the event. The 450 Salto toss scored a 9.25 for BU, while the synchronized was a 9.40 and the open heat scored a 9.60.
Baylor continued to dominate and push ahead with the tumbling event, scoring a total of 57.400. The duo pass had a 9.00 score, while the trio was 9.650, and the quad scored 9.30. The aerial pass had a 9.60 score, with the six-element pass scoring a near-perfect 9.90. The open pass finished off the event with a 9.95.
The Bears put up a score of 97.33 in the team event to finish out the win against East Texas Baptist.
