Oklahoma native is one of just two rookies to earn the honor three times this season
IRVING, Texas – For the third time this season, Baylor women's basketball's Darianna Littlepage-Buggs has been selected as the Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
The Edmond, Okla., native is one of just two rookies in the league to earn the award three times this season. Additionally, Littlepage-Buggs is the first Bear since the 2016-17 campaign to be recognized on at least three occasions when Lauren Cox earned the award four times that year.
Littlepage-Buggs earned two more starts for the Bears against Kansas State and Texas, averaging 19.9 minutes per game. The rookie averaged 12.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest, ranking fifth in the league in scoring. She was one of just three freshmen in the conference to average at least 10.0 points per game this week, leading all Big 12 rookies.
Littlepage-Buggs recorded her team-leading seventh double-double, and second-straight, with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Kansas State last Wednesday. She added six points and seven rebounds against the Longhorns on Sunday. Littlepage-Buggs ranked second in the league, going 12-for-19 (63.2%) from the floor.
Baylor returns to action on Saturday when it travels to face Texas Tech (15-5, 3-4 Big 12) at 2 p.m. inside the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.
