GOLD CANYON, Ariz. -- Baylor women's golf knocked the rust off with a third-place finish at the Match in the Desert, on Monday at Superstition Mountain Golf Club.

Britta Snyder and Silje Ohma led the way for Baylor firing a pair of 5-under 67's to finish tied for fourth. Monday marked Snyder's fifth-career top-5 finish moving her into the top-10 all time in program history. Ohma notched her first-career top-5 finish in just her freshman season.

BU finished two shots back of No. 22 UCLA who claimed the team title with a 12-under 276, edging out No. 15 Arizona State by a shot.

THE RUNDOWN
Snyder, playing out of the No. 1 spot this week, shot her best round since a second-round 65 at the Icon Invitational in 2021. The junior started strong with a pair of birdies at Nos. 1 and 2, before adding a third at No. 7 to shoot a 3-under 33 on the front nine. Snyder opened the back nine with seven-straight pars, closing with birdies at Nos. 17 and 18 to finish off a bogey-free 67.

Ohma made bogey on her opening hole at No. 3 but bounced back with a birdie at No. 6. The freshman caught fire after that with three-straight birdies at Nos. 10, 11 and 12 to get to 3-under par. Following a bogey at No. 14, she closed with birdies at Nos. 15, 18 and 1 to get into the clubhouse at 67.

Hannah Karg finished tied for 21st in her return to the lineup with an even-par 72. In her first round in the lineup since the NCAA championship at Grayhawk, she played her opening nine at even par, with a bogey at No. 3, offset by a birdie at No. 7. The senior continued her steady play on the back nine with a birdie at No. 14 and a bogey at No. 17.

BaiMai Seema made her fourth-straight start in the lineup and responded with an even-par 72 of her own. The team leader in total pars this fall made 13 more on Monday. After a birdie on her opening hole, Seema rolled in nine-straight pars until a double bogey at No. 12. She responded by playing her final seven holes at 1-under with birdies at Nos. 15 and 18, around her lone bogey of the day at No. 17.

Rosie Belsham opened the spring with a 1-over 73, good enough for 25th place. The native of Whitley Bay, England, recorded a pair of birdies to start the round at Nos. 1 and 2. She gave a shot back with a bogey at No. 4, and added three more at Nos, 10, 11 and 12, before getting back on track with a birdie to get back to 1-over where she finished the day.

Ilani Short made her collegiate debut today with a 6-over 78. The Brisbane, Australia, native, who enrolled in January, bounced back from bogeys on two of her first three holes with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 6 and 7. She finished with bogeys at Nos. 9, 10, 12, 15, 16 and 1 to card a 35th place finish in her first collegiate event.

QUOTABLE:
Head coach Jay Goble – "Coming here Friday and playing a couple of days before, was big for us. We actually had one of our qualifying rounds at Grayhawk which was a great experience because our ultimate goal is to be playing there in May. I think the hardest thing to do is simulate competition, get your blood flowing again and being able to score your ball and have it mean something. I really like how we handled ourselves, coming out here Friday and getting some extra reps, which led to some great things today."
