
VB Has Three Named AVCA Southwest All-Region

Bears have two first-teamers in 2023
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Baylor volleyball program had three named AVCA Southwest All-Region, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
Manuela Bibinbe and Averi Carlson were named First Team All-Region while Elise McGhee was named Honorable Mention.
Bibinbe, a junior transfer from Missouri State West Plains, was dominant on the block for the Bears with 98 total on the season, averaging 0.87 blocks per set and tallying 15 solo blocks. The Cameroonian was also impressive on offense, raking in 247 kills at a clip of .368 percent which led the team.
An honorable mention pick in 2022 as a freshman, Carlson averaged 10.42 assists per set this season, dishing out 1,188 overall assists. In addition, she served up 37 aces on the season at a .972 serve percentage.
McGhee led the Bears on the season in kills, attempts and points, finishing her junior campaign with 412 kills at 3.78 kills per set. She was also hot from the service line, serving up 33 aces with her jump serve. McGhee tallied five matches with 20 or more kills and had double-digit kills in 22 matches overall.
A total of 55.6% of Baylor's points accumulated in 2023 came from its underclassmen, with McGhee and Bibinbe accounting for 41.8% of the remaining points totaled on the year.
