STORYLINES
LEADING OFF
• Baylor hits the road for the first time in a midweek contest to face No. 21 Dallas Baptist at Horner Ballpark in Dallas on Tuesday, before hosting No. 12 Texas for a three-game series at Baylor Ballpark in Waco this weekend.
• The Bears bounced back from an 0-4 week to go 3-1 against Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma, claiming their second conference series victory of the year and moving into 8th place in the league standings at 4-8.
• BU hit .283 as a team last week, including standout performances from freshman INF Kolby Branch (.467), junior INF/OF Cole Posey (.438) and junior OF Hunter Simmons (.412).
• In Thursday night's series-opening win against Oklahoma, the Bears crushed three home runs, including back-to-back jacks by Cole Tremain and Walker Polk, the squad's first consecutive homers in two seasons.
• Polk delivered his second pinch-hit blast of the year, while Hunter Simmons also connected for his first-career HR in the green and gold.
• Baylor is 11-3 this season when scoring six or more runs and 4-0 when scoring 10 or more runs.
• BU is also 9-0 this year when leading the ballgame after six innings and 9-2 when out-hitting its opponent.
• Freshman INF Kolby Branch continues to produce offensively at a high rate, ranking tied for third in the Big 12 with 46 hits and 12 doubles, and placing eighth in the league with a .359 batting average.
• Sophomore INF Hunter Teplanszky leads the squad with a 20-game on-base streak, approaching Branch's season-high mark of 23 games.
• Junior RHP Hambleton Oliver collected two saves on the week in both wins against Oklahoma. He combined to throw 2.2 scoreless frames with two strikeouts and allowed just one hit.
ADD IT TO THE K-COUNTER
• The Bears have eclipsed double-digit strikeouts on the mound in 16 of their 32 games so far this season, though they have not reached double figures in any of their last 10 games.
• BU has punched out at least 13 opposing hitters in 10 games this year.
• Furthermore, Baylor has racked up 15 or more K's in four games this season, including a program record for Big 12 games with 18 at Oklahoma State on March 24.
• Baylor ranks third in the Big 12 and 31st nationally with 309 strikeouts.
• BU's 9.70 strikeouts per nine innings also ranks second in the conference and 55th nationally.
OFFENSE HEATING UP
• Over the last month (16 games), Baylor's offense is hitting .288 and has raised its batting average 29 points, from .230 to .259.
• During conference games, BU is hitting .282 as a team, the fifth-best mark in the league.
• Baylor's offense has produced 14 double-digit hitting outputs this season, including 10 in its last 16 games.
• Junior INF/OF Cole Posey is on an absolute tear, hitting .410 (25-for-61) during the stretch. His 15-game hit streak came to an end on Saturday against OU.
• Four Bears are hitting .333 or better during that stretch in Posey (.410), freshman INF Kolby Branch (.375), junior OF Hunter Simmons (.364) and sophomore INF Hunter Teplanszky (.339).
BY THE NUMBERS VS DBU
• Baylor leads the all-time series with DBU, 54-28, and claimed a thrilling 8-7 victory over the Patriots in 12 innings earlier this season on March 7.
• Since then, DBU has gone 16-4 and carries a six-game win streak into Tuesday night's matchup.
• The Bears have not beaten the Patriots twice in the same season since 2019.
