Frantzen hits No. 99 behind back-to-back ATP Challenger finals appearances
WACO, Texas – Constantin Frantzen, a Baylor men's tennis alumnus, hit the top-100 ATP doubles ranking for the first time on Monday, as announced by the association.
The winner of two Challenger titles in 2023 with two-straight finals appearances in the last two weeks, Frantzen jumped up 44 spots to a career-high ranking at No. 99 in the ATP list with 850 points.

"It's been a fun ride so far," says Frantzen. "I always knew I had a good game style and great potential to do well in doubles, but I never thought I could break into the top 100 so quickly. You always hope to do it, but to actually do it feels quite surreal to me. Winning my biggest title so far on my home soil in front of a packed center court and having my younger brother Christopher with me feels super special and that's something I'll never forget in my life."
While at Baylor, Frantzen won All-American honors in doubles for the 2021 season and had a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team his graduate senior year with a 23-11 doubles record.
"Reaching the top 100 of the ATP Doubles Rankings is an incredibly challenging milestone, but one that Coni has rightfully earned," said head coach Michael Woodson. "We arrived on Baylor's campus on the same day in August of 2016, and watching him grow from insecure freshman, to senior All-American captain, to touring professional has been amazingly rewarding. His development on and off the court has been remarkable. He is always looking to learn and grow, and his attitude in all endeavors allows him to squeeze every ounce of potential out of each situation he is placed in. I'm so proud of Coni and excited to see where tennis continues to take him. I am sure this is just the beginning of a long and prosperous professional career for him. He is a true Baylor champion for life!"
Baylor assistant coach Izak van der Merwe said he is "very proud of Coni and what he has done over the last two years."
"Climbing the rankings very quickly and breaking into the top 100 is a well-deserved reward for the work he has put in. His work ethic and perseverance has been second to none, and he is a wonderful representation of the Baylor men's tennis program. We look forward to supporting him as he takes the next step in his career and climbing up the world rankings."
"Baylor really laid the foundation for me not only for my professional career but also shaped me to be who I am today and helped me become a better person," said Frantzen. "Playing in an NCAA final and winning multiple Big 12 Championships helped me to adjust quickly to play on the pro tour and gave me an advantage over others. I wouldn't be where I am today without Baylor. Michael and Izak are still helping me to be the best version of myself up to this day."
The native of Augsburg, Germany, has the second-most career doubles wins in program history with 112, just behind Sven Lah at 115, and is sixth in the running for the best doubles record in program history with a .723 winning percentage.
Frantzen plans to play in his first professional tennis match on grass later this week in Ilkley, England.
