LEXINGTON, Ky. – Baylor volleyball has earned the 2022-23 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Thursday.
The award, sponsored by the United States Marine Corps, was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year and honors teams that maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
The Bears have earned the honor nine times overall. This is the second-consecutive season for the team to earn the accolade.
BU earned numerous academic accolades this season, highlighted by
Cassie Davis and
Elise McGhee earning CSC Academic All-District. Davis, McGhee,
Alicia Andrew,
Faith Lynch,
Riley Simpson,
Lauren Briseño and
Lauren Harrison were all named Big 12 Academic All-Conference as well.
For the spring semester alone, there were five student-athletes named to the Dean's List, nine were Academic Champions and four had a 4.0 GPA.
The Bears will start the 2023 campaign with the annual Green and Gold match on Aug. 16 and the first home match on Sept. 1 versus Rice.
