TEMPE, Ariz. – The 25th-ranked Baylor men's tennis heads west to begin four straight matches in the state of Arizona. The Bears face Arizona State on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT at the Whiteman Tennis Center and No. 16 Arizona on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

Baylor (2-0) holds the advantage over both Arizona State (2-0) and Arizona (2-0), at 7-2 and 3-2, respectively, and rolls into the trip to the desert with its 18th 2-0 start to a season since 2000.

Playing ASU last season, BU defeated the Sun Devils in the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center to advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships before falling to them, 4-3, at the Hurd Tennis Center in March.

Facing Arizona once in each of the last three seasons, the Bears dropped their 2023 matchup with the Wildcats, 5-2, last February.

BU went 2-0 in their Saturday doubleheader to open the 2024 campaign. Ten Bears on the 12-man roster collected at least one singles win throughout the two matches, with Marko Miladinović going 2-0. The day also marked the first time Devin Badenhorst, Louis Bowden, Martin Breysach, Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Arman Zamani all picked up wins in a Baylor uniform.

With sweeping both doubles points, the Bears found success behind four different doubles pairings: Justin Braverman/Christopher Frantzen, Breysach/Brostrom Poulsen, Tadeas Paroulek/Zsombor Velcz and Badenhorst/Luc Koenig. With Braverman/Frantzen's doubles win, all 12 players on the men's tennis roster had at least one win on the day.

To open their seasons, Arizona State put up two 4-0 sweeps against Northern Arizona and Wichita State, while Arizona went up against UC San Diego twice, taking two wins in 7-0 and 6-1 fashion.

Live stats for the Arizona State and Arizona matches will both the available online. Fans wanting to watch will only have the opportunity against Arizona.

BU will return to the state of Arizona to play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, hosted by the University of Arizona, with Tulane and Miami also in attendance on Jan. 27-28.
