Bears to host ITA National Indoors, Big 12 Championships and NCAA Team Championships
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis will host 19 matches at the Hurd Tennis Center, along with postseason matches for the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Team Championships during the 2025 season, set to open on Jan. 12 with a doubleheader.
"Our program is fired up to attack the schedule we have put together for the Spring of 2025," head coach Michael Woodson stated. "It is a great combination of traveling to some of the premier facilities and programs in the country while hosting, not only some of the strongest competition in regular season play, but the three most prominent post-season championships. Our fans are in for a treat with both the quantity and quality of home matches this season while our student-athletes and staff are about to experience the best opportunity afforded to a collegiate tennis program since the inception of the ITA National Indoor Championships. We cannot wait to see what can be accomplished together."
The Bears will open the season on Jan. 12 with a twin bill versus Lamar and Abilene Christian. The following weekend, they will play host against two nationally competitive teams with Wake Forest on Jan. 17 and TCU on Jan. 20. Wake Forest holds three ranked doubles teams inside the top-30 along with DK Suresh who ranks at No. 7 in singles rankings. The Horned Frogs are coming off claiming the NCAA Doubles National Championship along with winning the NCAA Team National Championship this past spring.
Baylor will travel up I-35 for their first road match at SMU on Jan. 26 before returning home for the final January match against San Diego on Jan. 31.
The Bears will open February with a doubleheader against New Mexico and Rice on Feb. 2 before flying up to the Midwest to play at Nebraska on Feb. 7 and at Ohio State on Feb. 9.
Those will be the final touches in preparation to co-host the ITA National Indoors with SMU. The Bears will host from the first round to the quarterfinals from Feb. 14-16 with SMU taking over for the semifinals and final rounds on Feb. 17-18.
Baylor will compete at Tulsa on Feb. 23 and then round out the month of February at home in a doubleheader on Feb. 28 against UTRGV and Illinois.
The Bears will open the month of March on March 9 in a double state against Cornell and Lehigh before they go to play two matches at the iconic Indian Wells Tennis Garden either against Princeton or Pepperdine on March 14 and 16.
Baylor will open conference play at home against Arizona State on March 21 and Arizona on March 23.
MT will head off to a three-match road slate at Utah on March 27, at BYU on March 29 and at UCF on April 3.
The Bears come back home for their final doubleheader of the season on April 6 against Oklahoma State and Prairie View A&M. The final regular season home match will be against Texas Tech on April 10 before the Bears close out the regular season at TCU in Fort Worth on April 13.
Baylor plays host to the men's and women's Big 12 Championships from April 16-20.
Campus sites will host the NCAA first and second rounds and super regionals, in advance of the NCAA Championships in Waco at the Hurd Tennis Center, May 15-18.
